March 16: Nerds of Nostalgia live podcast show

Monday, March 16, 2020 at 7:00:00 PM , ,

Nerds of Nostalgia- Free show. On the third Monday of every month.

Usually, the Nerds of Nostalgia show is: movie clips and music videos hinting at what the movie is going to be, then showing a cheesy movie, then running the live recording of their podcast (talking about the movie that we all just watched).

The theme for this year's mystery movies is "It's Been a Minute" meaning that all of these movies haven't been viewed by the hosts in a decade or more. Last month's clues were "Pretty in Pink," "Tourist Trap," and "Police Academy" and the movie was "Mannequin" from 1987.

They showed three trailers at last month's show, that are the clues to what is being shown this month. The first was "Shocker" a horror film about an executed serial killer using electricity to get revenge on the detective that caught him, the second was the film "La Bamba" about the rock singer Richie Valenz, and the third was "Hellbound" a detective film with Chuck Norris pursuing a devil. Combine elements from all three of these and you should get what the movie is. If you can't guess it, that's fine. Surprises are fun.

Greg and Jenius are really sweet and funny. This is always a good time.

Tapcade doesn't allow anyone under 21 to stay past 8 p.m. so you can't bring the kids. Sorry.

NoN Podcast is on Facebook and Twitter. Old episodes on Stitcher, Player FM, Spotify, etc.

The guys are pretty funny, and if you participate in the pod show, you get a prize. If you're into the weird old movies on cable TV, or just wanna see a strange horror film from the 80s, this show is free and Tapcade serves food and alcohol.

Quick Guide to Surviving Downtown- in case any of these are keeping you from attending

Parking- There is free street parking available near the barcade.
Cheap food- Monday Night Specials- $5 burger+fries, $7 impossible burger+fries.
The Homeless People- Not as dangerous as you would think. Don't be rude to them. Just firmly and sincerely say "Sorry, I don't carry cash" if you are approached for money. It helps to dress down, and not look like you have money to begin with. Mostly, they're just going to give you this sob story and ask you for $2. I gave someone the $2 once and then they asked for $5. And now, "I don't carry cash."
Bathrooms- Downtown bathrooms really are awful. All of them. It's the strangest phenomenon. So, use toilet paper to cover the seat. You may have to use paper towels as makeshift toilet paper. Be ready to let the staff know if anything else is missing. Typically, there will be soap and tp present, but not always.
