Replace ET and Stephen Spielberg with Ronald McDonald and gratuitous Coca-Cola product placement and you have something like the plan for Mac and Me, which did not turn out as well as that plan. Featuring the famous wheelchair over-the-cliff scene promoted by Paul Rudd on his every appearance on Conan, Mac and Me is a complete waste of time; Until now!
