TLDR; Come drink and wander around looking at art in comfortable clothing and shoes, also food.
Full Details:
There will be art, adult beverages, foods that are unhealthy, and walking! Yes, LOTS OF WALKING! Take the weather into consideration when you dress! Wear comfortable shoes. Bring a flask if you have one and some dollar bills for donations for wine! I plan on this running very late, moving on when the galleries close to local bars and/or restaurant. This tends to end in Westport or on a rare night 18th and Vine at the after hours jazz club.
Once we have all gathered in the area around The Brick we will head to galleries. This tends to be between 6:30-6:45. If you will be later, contact me! I can give you an intersection to meet at. The galleries close pretty early though, so get here as early as possible. I'll be in the area before 6 eating and would welcome the company. The sooner we meet up the sooner we can wonder.
Parking:
There is limited street parking in the area, paid parking just northwest of The Brick. The earlier you get to the area the better. I have no secrets or tricks to find a spot, but, I'd suggest starting on the east side of The Star building. It is about a block north of our starting location and seems to have empty spots a little longer than other areas. I am happy to walk anyone back to their car at the end of the event if there is a safety concern. We all have spots that we know look fine to park in during daylight but will get sketchy at night. Though we have not had any issues with any of our vehicles at this event and we have parked all over the area.
How we do:
We will start the night at The Brick or the food trucks across from it all depending on personal preference for start of the night food and drinks. From there we will wander the streets in a relentless horde looking for beautiful art and libations. All you really need to bring is a positive/adventurous attitude, some dollar bills for tipping, and maybe something to tide you over between galleries, ie a flask, some wine, or your poison of choice.
Please be responsible. If you will imbibe, find a parking place that will work over night and take a cab or Uber home. Or take it to and from the event. Not having to worry about you helps me have a good time. I'll be doing the same! Hell, I'm willing to share one if you wanna sleep on one of my luxurious couches!
Things not to bring:
-Negative opinions of the art while still in the gallery! The artists are there and have worked pretty hard on that dreadful item you are looking at. Please keep the criticisms to the minimum if not constructive.
-Uncomfortable clothing or shoes! It may rain, it may be hot, it may be cold, and it will definitely include walking. Everyone is happier when everyone is comfortable. Don't let the weather or walking keep you away, just plan ahead! Walking in the rain in a big group between gallerias can be a blast! Someone complaining the whole time about it sucks!
